Biographical information about employees of the J. Walter Thompson Company assembled by the Information Centers and Public Relations departments. Files contain clippings from newspapers, magazines, and J. Walter Thompson Company publications; press releases; company biographical sheets; memoranda; and, in some cases, photographs. James Baird Thompson was born in Greene County, Pa., in 1840. In 1869, President Ulysses S. Grant appointed Thompson's brother-in-law, General Edward M. McCook to the post of Territorial Governor of Colorado. McCook in turn named Thompson as his private secretary.
